Michelle graduated from the physiotherapy program at the University of Toronto in 1991. She worked at Toronto General/Toronto Western Hospitals for several years gaining knowledge and skills in areas including orthopaedics, cardiac surgery and rehabilitation, thoracic surgery, and the lung transplant program.
Michelle transitioned to working in private practice as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in 1995. In 2000, Michelle received a post-graduate Diploma in Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy and became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physical Therapists. Michelle is also certified in the treatment of vertigo and dizziness (vestibular rehabilitation) by the American Physical Therapy Association, acupuncture by Acupuncture Canada, and cognitive behaviour therapy by Laurier University.
In 2016, Michelle completed a Master’s Degree at the University of Western Ontario that included a research project in the area of assessment of people with concussion. This project inspired Michelle to continue her studies as a doctoral student. In 2022, Michelle completed her PhD in physiotherapy professional education at the University of Western Ontario.
In addition to her ongoing interest in physiotherapy research, Michelle continues to focus on her clinical practice. She enjoys sharing her expertise in concussion management, vestibular rehabilitation, and muscle and joint disorders and injuries for both acute and chronic conditions by working collaboratively with people of all ages.
