The Assistive Devices Program (ADP) helps people with a long-term physical impairment pay for customized mobility equipment. Our physiotherapist, Nicole Anstett, is a registered authorizer with ADP for ambulation aids including wheeled walkers or forearm crutches. If a person has a disability requiring the use of a mobility device for over 6 months they may qualify for funding for 75% of the cost of the device. In order for approval, a physiotherapy assessment is required to determine the need for a walker and which type would be appropriate. An application is filled out to bring to the vendor, a business that sells mobility equipment, who is also registered with ADP.
