Shaun graduated from the Physiotherapy Program at the University of Western Ontario in 1997, and in 2000 completed a Masters degree at Curtin University in Perth, Australia in orthopaedic physiotherapy and pain management. In 2013, he completed a post-professional Doctor of Physical Therapy diploma through the EIM Institute of Health Professions in the United States, with a focus on musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Shaun is an adjunct lecturer in the Physiotherapy program at the University of Toronto, teaching in both the Department of Physical Therapy as well as being a lead facilitator with the University of Toronto Centre for the Study of Pain. Professionally, he keeps involved various ways, including a previous role as President of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists. For the last seven years, he has been a member of the Adjunct Education Committee of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, developing and delivering post-graduate courses for physiotherapists in the area of pain science.
Shaun’s practice at Quinnrehab focuses on patients with complicated musculoskeletal disorders of the spine and extremities, and his caseload includes a wide cross-section of people from the surrounding community, from athletic kids to active seniors. He is also a physiotherapy provider to the members of the Canadian Forces at Base Borden, just outside of Barrie. He continues to work with athletes of all abilities, including national and international-calibre competitors.
Shaun’s treatment approach focuses heavily on patient education and giving people the tools to help themselves. Hands-on treatment, specifically tailored active exercise and acupuncture all feature prominently in his treatment approach, allowing him to help people reduce pain, improve function and return to full activity.
When not working, Shaun continues to serve on the board of the Huronia Symphony Orchestra. He also spends time on his mountain bike, trying hard not to fall on his head at high speed.
